First, thank you soooo much to everyone that has signed this petition. At nearly 1500 signatures I'm in awe of the global support this has received in such a short time. Now, (fanfare!) here's an important message I've received from The Bridge Hotel: "Just to let you know that Foie Gras has been off the Old Bridge menu for a couple of weeks now...." And here is my reply: "Thank you for letting me know, and more importantly thank you for removing foie gras from your menu. Am I right to think that you are aware of the petition I created on Change.org asking you to remove foie gras from your menu? I created this petition on 9th April, at which time foie gras was still a menu choice shown on your website (I checked just before the petition went live). As you say you have not served foie gras for a couple of weeks then I assume that the petition was not a part of this process, but please know that the nearly 1500 people that have signed my petition are very happy that you have made this decision, and we hope that it is a choice that will remain with you. Many thanks, Richard" We will be anonymously checking in at The Bridge Hotel during the coming weeks to confirm that foie gras is off the menu, but it looks like we have achieved our goal. From their message to me it appears that they may have been already considering taking foie gras off the menu before this petition even went live, but your support has still been very important. The Bridge Hotel now knows that we will not sit by and allow animal abuse to take place, and the knock on effect of this will be felt by their suppliers. When I set out to create this petition I had no idea what I was doing, I just knew I had to do something. Creating the petition was easy; the impact of this has come from each and every one of you. It takes a few seconds to sign and share a petition, and only a few minutes to create one, but our combined effort has actually contributed to the lives of thousands of living creatures.
