WAR HERO'S WITH PTSD SHOULD BE PRIORITY TO BE HOUSED
The Issue
You may have read my little brothers Daniel Finch story in the papers recently. He is suffering with PTSD since being in the army and Tower Hamlets Council are refusing to see him as a priority for housing. Infact they have said he has 20,000 people in front of him and its highly likely he will never be housed.
Daniel always wanted to be in the army from a young age and at the age of 17 he finally got a chance. At 21 they stationed him in Afghanistan and it was there that he experienced things we wouldn't experience in a life time let alone such a young age. His best friend in the army was killed by stepping on a explosive device 2km in front of him and a week later Daniel stepped on one under water blowing him 10 metres into the air, he lated there still, scared to open his eyes as he thought he had lost his legs; it was only when he heard the words he's intact that he dared open his eyes, he suffered burns to the face. Daniel had to begin councelling and was in a bad way mentally and was diagnosed with PTSD which is an invisible illness. Not wanting to let his country down he decided to stay and finish his tour and time in the army.
Tower Hamlets Council are now refusing to home Daniel because PTSD is an invisible illness and they say he has a roof over his head. He lives at his mum's in a cramped room with all his and his 2 year old daughters stuff. He would like nothing more than a suitable environment for his daughter when she stays with him and so he can start a new life for himself. Daniel struggled to get a job when he left the army despite his training as he was suffering with PTSD but eventually found a part time delivery driver job paying £800 per month which would no where near pay rent if he rented privately in Tower Hamlets.
My brother fought for us his country and now I hope you help me in fighting for him and all the other ex Army that are today suffering. Please sign the petition, we need 10,000 signitures to make a stand.
Thank you so much.
