My fellow Louisianans,

Governor John Bel Edwards decided to reintroduce a state-wide indoor mask mandate. We are currently the only state in America that has reinstated another mask mandate. Essentially, this mandate has outsourced our personal decision-making. We can no longer choose how to conduct our lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, our governor believes he can make decisions for us without our consent.

Governor Edwards has overstepped his executive authority by forcing the citizens of our state to wear masks--regardless of their vaccination status. HIs overbearing mandate defies the bulk of research about cloth masks and indoor mask mandates. There is little evidence that indoor mask mandates have slowed the spread of COVID-19. Furthermore, cloth masks are not proven to reduce the transmission of the COVID-19 virus.

We cannot allow our state to continue suffering economically, emotionally, and spiritually from Governor Edward's decision-making. The time has come to reassert our rights peacefully in the wake of the Governor's mandate.
We the people live in one nation under God—not the government! The government works for us—not the other way around. Our state has forgotten the American values of individual rights, liberty, and limited government in the last year-and-a-half. Governor Edward’s mask mandate flies in opposition to our nation’s founding principles.
