Waffle House wants to open a store in Downtown Woodstock, in the Hot Dog Heaven location. Many Woodstock residents enjoy going to Waffle House and have two VERY nearby from which they can choose. Why do we need another one in our unique and historic Downtown? A building from the 1800s will be razed, several variances are being requested, parking will be an issue on our already crowded Main Street, and a 24/7 restaurant right on Main Street does not sit well with many residents. The look of the proposed Waffle House is also not in line with the look of our beautiful Main Street, which is currently in the running for the Best Main Street in the USA!!!

Waffle House wrote a letter touting why they should open on Main Street. In the letter they struck a demeaning tone and asked if,  "Woodstock residents value diversity," (in terms of offering "affordable" food). Our area and schools are extremely diverse. Main Street offers affordable options like Canyons and several pizza, salad and sandwich places. There's a Waffle House less than a mile away right on Towne Lake Parkway!! There's no shame in wanting higher end restaurants on our Main Street or at least asking for the architecture and hours to fit in with Woodstock's Downtown aesthetic. Downtown Woodstock is a unique treasure of a place. It combines our long history with quirky boutiques, mid and high end restaurants and Foodie destinations. We don't want a Waffle house right on Main Street. Please make your voice heard by signing this petition and emailing joehoffman@wafflehouse.com with your concerns.
