Every day at Petland a disguting number of people hold, squeeze, drop onto tile floor, pinch, prod, torment and cause bodily harm to the animals. Petland has OPEN top tanks in the center of the store. Hamsters, rabbits, ferrets and other animals can be touched, held and abused from store open to close daily. Just in the short time I was in the store I saw an animal thrown violently against the glass tank. My kids also saw this. Employees at Petland should constantly supervise the animals safety an not one was watching them. I think petland needs better cages Period. The dogs drink from hamster bottles in 3x3 glass squares. They are the only animals protected from constant handling. Animals safety should be the number one priority of any pet store. Handling an animal for 12 hours by hundreds of people should NOT BE ALLOWED. Handling animals without hand washing can also spread diseases. Customers could also be bitten. Children should NEVER be able to lift an animal from its tank. Animals have been dropped. Children are unattended while their parents are shopping and not supervising them tormenting the animals who have no place to escape their groping in the open tanks. All children should be instructed on the proper way to pick any animal up and support its body. Not one employee saw what happend today in the Monroeville, PA Petland. A young girl pinched a hamster repeatedly then threw it into the side of its tank HARD. The girls dad laughed. I want everyone to boycott Petland until changes are made. I want Petland to provide covered safe cages for all of their animals and not allow them to be handled unsupervised ever again.
