Dear Beaufort Co.Councilman for District 6 Joe Passiment,

We, the below signatories, are your constituents who live in the Oldfield Community on Hwy 170.

We ask you to stand with us in opposition to the annexation, from Beaufort Co. to Hardeeville (Jasper Co.), of  91 acres abutting the community of Oldfield,  owned by the Cooler family.  This annexation move clearly seems like an attempt to circumvent Beaufort County’s Planning Requirements for building density and environmental concerns.  We fully understand that the Cooler’s have the right to develop this land but feel that it should remain within Beaufort Co. This will ensure that the development takes into consideration the health and future of the Okatie River to which this property will drain.  Beaufort Co. works diligently to protect our Beaufort Co. natural resources.  Hardeeville has no responsibility to do so.

We ask that you also urge all of your colleagues to join us in fighting this annexation to protect Beaufort County lands and rivers.   Thank you for your time and attention to this important matter.
