Tell JDI to stop, drop & soul

Tell JDI to stop, drop & soul

The Issue

Job's Daughters is a social Masonic related sorority designed to develop leadership qualities in young women between the ages of 10 to 20.

The order was brought to life at the height of the women's suffrage movement. Members are taught the

  • Rules of Order,
  • how to hold a business meeting,
  • how to keep financial records,
  • how to take minutes and how to speak in public.
  • Politeness and social grace
  • the importance of perseverance and faith in times of hardships

These lessons were designed to help these women grow into the leaders of tomorrow. Judy Garland, Debbie Reynolds and Kim Cattrell are famous alumni (Majority Members) of the order.

Membership in Job's Daughters (JDI) has been declining for years. Grassroots promotion and creating a popular vibe are two approaches that could save this wonderful sorority.

Job's Daughters lost a historical lawsuit in the 1980s related to trademarks. When Heidi Yoast created her spirit wear, at the behest of individual members as well as adult chaperones and board members, she took care to not use any trademarks - even though the law is clear that use of trademarks to show affection for an organization or group or to show fandom is not a violation of trademark. Heidi from Pink Power Printing often made spirit wear for the members of JDI without earning a profit. She is the majority member which means she is an alumni. She is also a mom and cancer survivor who loves her memories of membership and values the lessons she learned in JDI.

Currently spirit wear for the organization is hard to come by. The process of approvals from the Board of Directors is  prohibitive.  The order  has one main supplier which is Doc Morgan. Job's Daughters is an international organization and also a non-profit. The members of the order would like to be able to support their local shops and designers as well as their members and alumni. Running a business is exactly the type of activity that "Mother Mick", who started the order, would have wanted to see in the future of the girls.

The Board of Trustees has started a trademark infringement lawsuit against Heidi Yoast. The daughters and members of the international order were not  polled before the lawsuit was initiated -and yet it is their fundraising dollars which will be used to pay for lawyers. Many Job's Daughters are not even aware that there is a lawsuit. There has been a lack of transparency and openness between the Supreme levels of adult guidance and the actual membership. As a result of Shelly Cole's alleged behaviour and the cost of the suit, JDI is now being counter sued and possibly on the way to bankruptcy.

The craftsmanship done in this lawsuit  is subpar. The spirit of the lawsuit goes against the growth of the organization. There is suspicion that shady deals and inflated egos where the cause of the lawsuit and not any actual trademark infringement. Examples of trademark infringement provided by the lawyers included items that were not made by Heidi.

Tour signature will tell the board of directors and adult leadership of this organization to drop this lawsuit and to embrace local artists who are trying to work with the membership to grow the order. Tell the adults at the Supreme level to take the young women affiliated with the order into account through honesty, transparency, and awareness of what the wishes of the membership are.

Stop the madness!

Drop the lawsuit!

And find the soul of Job's Daughters International again
