Partial tuition refund for University of Minnesota, Duluth students.

Partial tuition refund for University of Minnesota, Duluth students.
The Issue
The UMD bulldogs are petitioning for a partial refund in the amount of 48.6% of what was paid for Spring semester of 2020 at University of Minnesota, Duluth. This is due to the lack of face to face instruction for 35 out of 72 scheduled instructional days.
On top of the lack of face to face instruction, our other large concerns include: missing crucial hands on experience, commencement, and not being able to utilize each fee charged to us with tuition such as: Athletics Facility Fee, LSBE Collegiate Fee, Student Services Fee, Transportation Sustain Fee, Parking Passes, and many more if you signed up to live on campus.
A large concern many students and especially for seniors that are presumed to graduate in May, is that the classes we have elected to take are not only the most important to our majors thus far, but also include many hands on experiences that we will not have for our future. Although we will still have our degree, these missed opportunities to learn could jeopardize us in the future in our careers.
Nearly every class I chose this semester was meant for in-class instruction only. Many of them did not even have an online option at all, meaning that the professor will now need to quickly determine how to effectively turn a face-to-face instruction curriculum into a fully online format.
With the coronavirus making our commencement an experience we may never get to participate in, along with many other last-semester opportunities that are now lost, we hope UMD will consider doing the right thing here. In the end, we paid for a service that we did not fully receive. Please sign this if you feel the same way.
