Final Easement

Feb 9, 2017 — Under pressure from President Trump, the Army Corps of Engineers has granted the final easement necessary for pipeline construction, rolling back almost a year of fighting to protect our water. In spite of having previously announced that they would need to conduct an Environmental Impact Statement, the Corps has now decided that the process can be halted as they suddenly have the information needed to support approval of the project.

Drilling has already begun. We are devastated.

But efforts continue. Our tribe will challenge the easement decision and pursue legal avenues to stop this snake. Meanwhile, Seattle, WA and Davis, CA have voted to pull their city funds out of Wells Fargo due to its stake in the Dakota Access Pipeline.

And we are still organizing. This campaign was always about so much more than one pipeline: it was about building a mass movement to support indigenous rights and youth leadership. The movement brought together young Native people from across the country, and we plan to stick together to support each other and keep fighting for our communities. If you want to help, you can do so by donating to help us buy a passenger van so we can continue to participate in organizing events. Donate here:

The struggle continues!
