There’s a blue “V” sign on the front of 152 Nassau because there’s a public meeting next Thursday at noon for the Board of Zoning Adjustment where the developer’s appeal of the City of Atlanta’s May 2017 decision to require a new, separate permit application for the proposed demolition of this building will be heard. The developer has been deferring these hearings since 2017 based on a “golden ticket” legal agreement signed by the previous mayoral administration that allows demolition rather than preservation.

Seemingly contrary to the developer’s recent comments that they “are considering ways to respectfully acknowledge that Okeh Music recorded an early country music song there” and they “want to do the right thing to honor the history that may have happened there,” revised plans submitted to the City of Atlanta in just the past couple weeks still show complete demolition of this historic building.

So the fight to save this building and its musical heritage continues!

You can send comments to the Board of Zoning Adjustment via their secretary: Racquel T. Jackson, rtjackson@atlantaga.gov. You can also reach the developer directly via their website.
