Rosangela Spradling is a victim of domestic violence who has been incarcerated since May 2013, when she was charged with first-degree murder in the death of her abusive husband, Steve Spradling. Prior to his death, Mr. Spradling violently attacked and tried to strangle Rosangela. He had spent all day drinking heavily and threatening to cut his wife’s head off. Rosangela was a full-time mother. Their two children were home at the time but were not harmed. According to the sheriff’s office, police responded to numerous reports of domestic violence at the Spradling home over the past 10 years, including several times in the year prior to the shooting. Mr. Spradling was also hostile toward his neighbors, and even threatened a neighbor’s life twice over minor things. He was a police officer at the airport, but he was also an alcoholic, controlling and violent man.

 This case is a tragedy for the Spradling family. However Rosangela Spradling is a victim. Charging her with first-degree murder is outrageous.

Jim Plowman is the elected official who serves as the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Loudoun County, the office that is prosecuting this case. Please write to Mr. Plowman, asking him to drop the charges against Rosangela.
