As most people know, NLC policy and strategy committee meeting on the 31/01/20 voted to close Kilbowie outdoor activity centre in 2020/21.
This decision has been made to save them money from running costs, subsidising costs and from the sale of the building.
This has to go to a full council meeting on the 27th of February when it will be finalised.
Please sign and share and keep up the momentum of the petition and we can present this to the council before the full meeting.
In addition, contact your local newspaper, write to your local councillors and MPs.
Speak up for the children who have no voice.
This decision was made without public consultation and only 72 hours or so notice.
We owe it to the children of the North Lanarkshire Council area.
This week away in primary 7 is a life-changing and magical experience for children and affects kids out with the area too.
What message are we sending children when the council are taking experiences like this and swimming in primary 5 away from them. They reinstated swimming after public pressure but with schools having to fund the transport costs, many children have lost this as schools are unable to find money for everyday materials nevermind funding buses to and from swimming pools.
The bus services for schools was also targeted but the decision overturned when the public made clear their views on this.
Together we are much stronger.
We owe it to all children, they are the future
