During an era when expectations for teachers and students have been raised, we should also maintain high expectations for the Arkansas Commissioner of Education. The Commissioner of Education should have at least ten years of direct experience as a teacher, hold at least a master's degree, and have a valid state teacher's license. We oppose Senate Bill 176.
