On April 12th, a tornado touched down in Eastern Chattanooga and devastated several communities.  Hamilton County Emergency Services did not send out a warning through cellular Emergency Alerts.  When questioned why Emergency Alerts weren't utilized, one of the reasons Hamilton County Emergency Services claimed was that "alerts had been unfavorable to citizens in the past."  Emergency alerts have been utilized in prior tornado warnings, and it has been brought to the county's attention since 2016 that there are issues where not all citizens receive these messages.  In order to help Hamilton County Emergency Services see the need for utilization of these cellular alerts, please sign the petition if you would like to receive tornado warnings as an Emergency Alert on your phone.
