Ask for the immediate resignation of Jim Conrad, CEO of Wind River Casino.

The Issue

We the Northern Arapaho People signing this Petition are asking for the immediate resignation of Jim Conrad as CEO of the Wind River Casino and All tribal businesses.

During his course as CEO he has demonstrated a track record of highly questionable financial decisions that has not only created extreme concern from tribal members, but has lead to the recent layoffs of up to 120 employees by Jan of 2016.

The recent expansion and building of the New Buffalo restaurant demonstrates a gross failure of risk assessment and proper market analysis . One does not need to be highly educated to examine our local economy and see clearly the failure of many restaurants over the last 4 years in Riverton. The grand opening for this restaurant with a price tag of over 13 million was just over six months ago in which the company hired many employees to support it.

Further, The excuse that was given to the media that the oil industry "boom and bust" as the cause of this layoff is unacceptable, and further shows the lack of understanding of our local and National economy. Our Country has been in a depression since 2008. Our county employment rate is one of the highest in the nation. There has not been a local oil boom in over 25 years. The major oil crash happened over a year ago on a national level, with North Dakota being the Main boom geographical location, not Wyoming!

Jim Conrad understands without a doubt he has been the center of controversy from many Tribal members in the past.  Northern Arapaho Tribal members have been in turmoil over the issue of his contract for many years now. Many times it has led to heated General Council meetings leaving community members in disarray and divided. It has ultimately led to our Tribe not having meetings at all. The result is tribal members currently have no knowledge of what is happening with their revenue.

When the people voted to approve this Gaming operation, we were told it was our "new buffalo" and would make us prosperous. In all these years the people have not seen much of anything from this venture. No sponsored education, public recreation, or tangible benefit our children can enjoy.

As a Tribal member you are lucky to even be employed from this venture. The enrolled members that are employed make up less than 5% of the Arapaho People.

By signing this Petition we fully support every enrolled Arapaho member that signs it and demand that no retaliation of any sort comes to them from our Government or local and federal authorities. We are not petitioning any person but Jim Conrad, CEO of Wind River Casino and will respectfully provide this petition and its results to the Northern Arapaho Business Council.
