I received a phone call last night from the DHSC to say that the participants of the roundtable discussing the premise of Jess’s Law yesterday afternoon were overwhelmingly in favour of introducing it as guidance. This feels like a significant step. Knowing that the UK’s leading oncologists, primary care professionals, researchers, and policymakers were in agreement that the changes proposed by Jess’s Law are needed felt hugely positive.
It is now up to the Chief Medical Officer, Chris Whitty, to decide exactly how the ‘Three strikes and we rethink’ rule will be implemented. I will meet with some of the lead participants of the roundtable this week and will do everything I can to push for swift action and meaningful, lasting change.
In the last week, 14,000 signatures have been added to Jess’s petition. Thank you so much. Please continue to share this campaign.
As always, inspired by my lovely Jess and holding her in my heart.
