I wanted to share some positive news with you all. Recently, MP Julie Marson met with Andrea Leadsom, the Primary Care Minister, asking her to introduce Jess’s Law on the statute book. Speaking about the meeting Julie said,

“Getting Jess’s Law on the statute book is hugely important. What Jess and her family went through was a tragedy and we should make sure that it never happens again. I am grateful to the Minister for her time. She committed to getting her team to look at the proposal in more detail and, potentially, following this with legislation.”

Both Julie and I were interviewed for Heart Radio and excerpts were aired during their hourly news bulletins on Friday and Saturday.

With the current news indicating that public satisfaction with the NHS is at its lowest ever level, with only 24% of people in England, Scotland, and Wales content with the health service, this is the time for action. Your collective voice, all 322,000 of you, does count. Please continue to speak out and support. Thank you so much.

Almost 90% of patients with cancer are diagnosed after visiting their GP in primary care. However, only 54% of patients are diagnosed at stage 1 or 2. We know that a late diagnosis is the difference between life and death. Jess’s Law will lead to earlier intervention and cure.

As a side note, you may have noticed that change.org has recently removed the feature allowing supporters to comment on updates. Your contact and comments have been so appreciated throughout this campaign. Thank you to all who have taken the time to encourage and support. If you appreciate the opportunity to interact, please let change.org know, they are always open and willing to listen.

Before I sign off, I should say that Jess, of course, loved Easter. It was an opportunity to spend time with her family, enjoy nice food, and most importantly, eat chocolate! So, during this holiday, don’t hold back, eat some chocolate and remember Jess.
