The Issue

On Monday, April 6th, 2020, I along with the rest of the Jersey City community received the news Ward D Councilman MIchael Yun passed away due to complications with COVID-19. Councilman Yun represented the Heights section (Ward D) of Jersey City. He had a passion not only for his ward but for the entire city. He was known for examining city budgets and wanted to sure all money was allocated appropriately and spent wisely.

Councilman Michael Yun was elected to his seat in 2013 and won re-election in 2017 with 58% of the vote. During his last election, I was proud to support him as he was always honest and never played politics. He was truly about getting things done for the people. When I ran for a seat on the Jersey City Board of Education, I can never forget our meeting and the advice he gave me. I still remember his advice to this day on when is the right time and what I need to do. When it came down to educational policies, we agreed a lot.

I am urging the Jersey City municipal council to appoint Sean Connors (Former NJ State Assemblyman and retired JCPD detective) to fill the vacany seat. Connors has always been involved in the community and won't put politics above the people. He's best fit to continue Yun's legacy.

Let's not play politics with this appointment!
