On March 8th, 2021, two members of Congress, including the ranking member of the U.S. Judiciary committee, sent a letter urging Chairman Jerry Nadler to open a hearing into the issue of conservatorship abuse and specifically cited Britney Spears’ case. The truth is, conservatorships affect an estimated 1.5 million Americans. It is the duty of the Judiciary Committee to convene and find ways to ensure these individuals, primarily the elderly and mentally disabled, are not being taken advantage of by the system.
