Hello my name is Carol Razo. My son was sentenced 26 years 4 months to Life for being at the wrong place wrong time. Samuel's trial took 6 years and 2 months, and I feel he did not get a fair chance in his case. Deliberation for the jury took two days to convict Samuel, and his 7 co-defendants. Two co-defendants who got a lesser sentence had multiple stories and did not mention Samuel until the 3rd interview with police and investigators. During the trail multiple witnesses were called upon and all stated that Samuel had no part in the said crime and that they were never in fear of him. They stated he was present at the party but he was a good kid. It’s all in the transcript. He was wrongfully convicted. The investigators and the jury did not take the time to look at all and what little evidence they believe to have had on my son by himself, which was just him being present at the time of the crime. He was 17 years old at the time, never had a criminal record or prior run ins with the law. He loved to be with his family, his brothers and sisters. We moved from Stockton to San Jose for a better life. Yet that was the biggest mistake I made as a mother. My son wanted to fit in with the neighborhood kids we lived by, often the age difference between his siblings they spent time away from home with their friends. Samuel has been incarcerated for almost 11 years now, for a crime he did not commit or partake in. He happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. I believe he deserves a second chance at life. So does he. I have lost 3 brothers, I don't want to lose my son too. Please help me bring my son home and have him tried in court accordingly. Thank you.
Hi my name is Samuel Razo, I am currently 28 years old, I have been incarcerated since I was 17 for a crime I did not commit. I was attending a house party in the neighborhood I was living in. I did not know, or intend on anyone getting hurt, nor did I know a life would be taken that night or I would have never attended the party. A fight broke out in which a life was taken and I am extremely remorseful for and I take full responsibility for being present at the party. I did not fight when the fight broke out nor did I aid in harming anyone in any way. Where I was being raised I was taught not to tell on anyone, I also didn’t see it fit to say anything when I had no involvement when the fight broke out. I now see things differently as I have developed into a man. I have a loving, supportive family that is awaiting my return. I have plans to attend a half way house upon my release, I have employment waiting and I have a plan to stay on the right track and away from individuals that live a criminal lifestyle. I recently have been taken off closed custody and I have obtained certificates in Anger Management and Narcotics anonymous. I am now on waiting list for Lifers Group, Trend Setters, and school to finish up my educational goals such as my general education, since I was 17 at the time I did not get the opportunity to finish high school. I have many other educational goals in which I will reach. I’m hoping to enter court and be charged accordingly, I did not receive a fair trail. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your support.
