Today I received my school documents, which contained several inconsistencies on behalf of Terra State Community College! While I’ve already come across several very unsettling things, you’ll have to wait for the “official” breaking news... so stay tuned. I want to quote Heath Martin’s first two responses upon request: "I have gathered the records you requested on April 19, 2016. The College is unable to provide you with the records electronically because there is a need to validate your identity, as these records are subject to applicable state and federal privacy laws. Specifically, we do not send documents that contain social security numbers or other personally identifiable information. Upon verification of your identity, your records can be provided to you on a flash drive or on paper copy. If you request paper copies, please note that there is a charge for paper copies of 15 centers per page. Once you provide us with your preference, we can setup a time to verify your identity and release the records. If you have any questions, please contact me." They wanted to charge me for EVERY PAGE! Upon requesting a FERPA release form & looking into the FERPA laws, it’s clearly stated that students are “entitled to their information upon request”, not upon payment!! IT TOOK ALMOST A YEAR TO GAIN ACCESS TO MY INFORMATION I WAS ENTITLED TO! I’m not an expert in law, but I do know a years worth of time sure isn’t “upon request”! With that being said, there are more updates to come!
