Make the UK organ donor register opt-out

The Issue

My son, Isaac is an incredible, smiley little man. He is a fighter. He has had to be - he was born prematurely and we were told he might not make it, but he is still fighting. But now at just 17 months old he needs a double lung transplant.

Isaac is waiting to go on the transplant list. But we've been told transplants for young babies are rare and there is such a shortage of organs that Isaac's chances of getting a transplant are slim - we've had to fight for them even to consider him putting him on the list.

We are not the only family in this horrible situation. Thousand of people, adults and children, are dying every day because there simply isn't enough organs available. That's why I've started this petition calling for UK residents to be automatically registered onto the organ donor list.

In the UK people have to register themselves to be an organ donor. I believe changing the law so that people are automatically on the donor list but can opt-out if they don't want to be, would save countless lives.

Many people haven't had time to register or are not the right age before they die to put themselves on the list, that doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t have been willing to save lives by donating their organs if given the option.

Isaac deserves the chance to grow up and become the amazing person I see him turning into every day. But right now he might not make his third birthday because there are not enough people on the organ donation register.

Please help give Isaac, and the thousands of other people waiting for lifesaving transplants, a chance by signing this petition.
