The NO STUMP CITY (NSC) project was established in late August 2017 to increase independent political activity by the Sheffield trees campaign. To expand our work in coming months, we have created this Crowdfunder to raise £750.00 Here is what NSC has done so far: 1) We were key actors in establishing and promoting the petition asking Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn to intervene as a mediator between Sheffield City Council and the tree campaign. More than 10,000 people had signed by 6 Nov. 2) We gave Guardian columnist George Monbiot a guided tour of iconic Sheffield trees and widely distributed his 25 October article: “Look to Sheffield: this is how state and corporate power subverts democracy.” 3) We’ve assembled a team of 15 distributors to hand out almost 2,000 copies of an NSC flyer at political events and Labour Party meetings in Sheffield. 4) On UK-wide social media we have widely spread news and commentary about the Sheffield campaign. In coming months, we plan to expand our distribution efforts. These include a special Christmas project; details under wraps for now. We face increased printing costs that we cannot meet from our own personal wallets. Unitarian Minister Rev. Sarah Tinker will be the official treasurer for this Crowdfunder; Rev. Tinker is Sheffield born and bred. Any funds remaining at the end of this project will be donated to a UK organisation that promotes better management of our urban arboricultural resources. No Stump City is a non-partisan political campaigning group based in Sheffield. Contact us at: no.stump.city@gmail.com Thank you for reading.
