The former Chief Rabbi, Lord Jonathan Sacks has spoken out, denouncing Jeremy Corbyn as an “antisemite”. Echoing the views put forward in our petition, Lord Sacks warned: “Now, within living memory of the Holocaust, and while Jews are being murdered elsewhere in Europe for being Jews, we have an antisemite as the leader of the Labour Party and Her Majesty’s Opposition. That is why Jews feel so threatened by Mr Corbyn and those who support him.”
In the remarks, made in an interview with The New Statesman, he called Mr Corbyn “dishonest and dangerous”, adding: “He has legitimised the public expression of hate, and where he leads, others will follow.”
He also compared Mr Corbyn, who has recently received the endorsement of the former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klax Klan, David Duke, and the former leader of the far-right British National Party, Nick Griffin, to Enoch Powell. Lord Sacks said: “The recently disclosed remarks by Jeremy Corbyn are the most offensive statement made by a senior British politician since Enoch Powell’s 1968 ‘Rivers of Blood’ speech. It was divisive, hateful and like Powell’s speech it undermines the existence of an entire group of British citizens by depicting them as essentially alien.”
However, as our petition exceeded 25,000 signatures, supporters of Mr Corbyn threatened to complain to the Charity Commission about Campaign Against Antisemitism, claiming that our petition is libellous and political rather than based on any real concerns about antisemitism.
Please encourage your friends to add their names to the petition and if you like, write to the Charity Commission to tell them what you think about our charitable work.
