Demolish the Houses of Parliament
The Issue
WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO DO THAT?
The Houses of Parliament are the symbols of a corrupt and decaying system that does not do justice to the ideals it claims to represent. I suggest that they should be demolished as a symbolic break with the past and that a new building chosen by the public should be erected in their place.
WHY JEREMY CORBYN?
I am directing this petition to Mr. Corbyn because I believe that he could do the necessary political legwork make it happen once it was clear there was massive public support for the demolition. You will forgive my pessimism but I doubt many other political figures would be quite as democratically minded.
ARE YOU SERIOUS?
Yes, for all their historic importance the main thing that the Houses of Parliament represent in the minds of the general public is a luxurious private club for a collection of self serving liars to plot against us in. I would tear down far more than a building if I could, but a building -as has been said before- is a symbol.
WOULD THEY DO IT?
Almost certainly not. And I will almost certainly never be rich, famous and able to fly. I still consider it worth the attempt however.
ANY OTHER HISTORIC SITES YOU WANT TO DESTROY?
Nope. My next project would be rebuilding one actually. I for one would love to see Atlantis restored to its former glory. Granted we'd need to find it first, but nothing worthwhile is ever easy.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO PREEMPTIVELY CLARIFY THAT THIS IS ABOUT DEMOLITION AND NOT SOME SORT OF CRAZED TERRORIST PLOT?
Why yes, yes I would. I've added this in response to a couple of comments I've had from people who are worried this will be misrepresented if it gets any popularity. The image I'm using is very pretty and a great visual cue for what this is about. That's it. I'm not advocating terrorism any more than I'm advocating Scientology or the return of Disco. Since Parliament (At least in theory) belongs to the people of this country we have every right to have it torn down if we so wish and nobody would be hurt in doing so.
I feel almost foolish clarifying this but....there you go.
