The school garden was recently planted over without warning, under principal Dr.VanDeusen’s approval. She gave the class a heads up that it must be clean but never made her intentions clear on why she wanted it tidy. The environmental science classes were never properly warned nor accounted for in this decision held due to the fact that an entire unit of the class will be skipped. Not only to mention that U-46 will not allow the environmental science classes to have gas powered tools, pesticides, or anything to maintain a garden besides a string and a shovel.  Although she is “revamping” the garden by placing it on the front end of the school (where there is no sunlight. Plants need sunlight for photosynthesis.), she is doing it for the culinary classes rather than environmental science classes.  In all respect the student body does not agree with this decision to take the garden away and would like a chance to have it back in the spring of 2022, in the original area it was in.  The environmental science classes are just as important as any other class but the principals actions are showing other wise.  With enough signatures and notice this can be achieved. Our voices will be heard and noticed.
