Reinstate Mike Palings Membership of The Labour Party

Reinstate Mike Palings Membership of The Labour Party

The Issue

Bring back active and supportive member Michael Arthur Paling of Redcar to The Labour Party

Mike is a kindhearted gentle soul, passionate activist and family man who joined the Labour Party in 2014 coming from a Trade Union background. He had previously been a hard working workplace rep for NUPE.

From the date of his joining he has campaigned hard in his constituency, his neighbouring countinuency and all over the North East of England from Newcastle to Scarborough spreading the word for labour particularly during the snap General Election. Whats amazing about this man is he still continues to fight for a Labour Government for the many inspite of his expulsion and believes and understands how very much this would change the lives for ALL especially in the NE. You couldnt find a cleaner cut advocate for the party.

Mike was a previous delegate to his CLP and observer to his local Labour Group. An active, keen reliable and inclusive member from the very start of his membership.

Mike is also an active member of Unite and can always been seen out and about on campaigns, protests and at meetings. Especially to input in the development of the new Tees Valley Community Centre to provide support and advodacy with welfare rights.

Mike is a prolific user of social media and not a day goes by when you wont see a pro Corbyn post or 5 and posts bringing attention to austerity and how a Labour Government could change this. If he enters debate it is always respectful and always pro labour. Therefore what is sad and so alarming is that Mike has been expelled for sharing,- just sharing, not commenting, not condoning - one or two social media posts from an organisation that The Labour Party deem to have communist connections. These were hidden amongst what must be a 1000+ pro and affliated shares and posts. We find this a very spurious reason given his track record of activism and despite getting his appeal against their evidence in within the 14 days notice he has never had his case heard or a chance  for justice in this matter.

Newer members who are positively active and offer fresh insight should be welcomed with open arms, not expelled for what would seem a minor misunderstanding. What signal do we give for our growing (particularly young movement), a party that has vowed to listen and empower its membership should be ensuring all party policies are carried through and all active members are encouraged in their invaluable volunteer work.

We would ask that you hear Mikes dispute of the evidence used to expell him. However due to the time lapse ( it being some 10 months)  and the fact he has continued with impeccable loyality to the party over that time period. We ask that you reinstate Mike Paling back into membership of The Labour Party where he belongs with immediate effect. The valuable contribution that this man has and will give to the Labour movement should be recognised in full.
