This petition specifically opposes the proposed State Police shooting range design/location on the basis of the risk to public safety, significantly increased impulse noise pollution, road wear and tear, environmental/ground water impact, quality of life impact and the obvious negative impact on property values/tax revenues. We will be losing out on revenue that visitors & tourists would normally spend at our restaurants and stores. Campers that camp there during the season will no longer be able to enjoy the peace and serenity that our forest & ponds have to offer. Not to mention the beautiful wildlife that consider the Pachaug forest, their home. The Pachaug Forest is a state forest, all taxpayers in the state of Connecticut are welcome here and therefore should have a voice in this as well. Let's hear you, Connecticut! We recognize and support the need for our State police department to train on their firearms, however approving this particular 125 bay open-air /55,000 sq ft facility that is so close to so many homes and Pachaug State Forest, would be contrary to the well-being of residents in and around Griswold and the surrounding towns that we share the forest with. This facility will cost much more to the town and neighbors than it could ever contribute. Please sign this petition to save Griswold and preserve our Beautiful Quiet Corner of Connecticut.
