Stop DC's Largest Gay Bar From Becoming Condos

Stop DC's Largest Gay Bar From Becoming Condos
The Issue
The largest gay club in Washington, D.C., will close on July 1, 2018. Unless we convince Jefferson Apartment Group to change their plans.
Town is the center of a lively gay corridor in the middle of the city near the intersection of U St and Florida Ave. Its demise will kill our largest dance club and gathering space, but likely will also have an effect on nearby gay bars such as Nellies, Uproar and Dirty Goose that often are pregame locations for Town.
And what will become of our late-night pizza shop Angelina's next door?
A new gay dance club would probably open somewhere else. But do we want to be a city where our gay scene is fragmented and inaccessible? No way.
If you need a few hundred more reasons not to shut the place, read through the mourning of this decision on Facebook.
Sign this petition or contact Jefferson Apartment Group on your own to ask that they reconsider. And if you feel so inclined, let them know how you will oppose their condo plans at every local government meeting if they do not.
If you're feeling less charitable, tell them their ugly developments can stay in NoVa, where they belong!
With gays making up 10 percent of D.C.'s population, we can and should stop this.
