As parents, we reserve the right to make health choices for our children. Not the government or school boards. While cases are rising in states, including ours, the deaths are not following the trend. The deaths as of today (7/28/21) are lower than Alzheimer’s and heart disease.

Keeping kids masked and socially distant during school makes no sense. These kids are hanging out together after school and on the weekends without masks or social distancing. They walk to and from school, the majority without masks. There are reports of it being possible for kids under 12 to get Covid and the Delta variant, but kids aren’t usually affected by it. We don’t impose these restrictions on kids during cold and flu season which is way more deadly to children than Covid is…and to put it on kids to protect adults is wrong. Kids need to be kids, play, live and build their immunities. Adults have had ample opportunities to get vaccinated and by now if they haven’t, that’s their choice. In the RARE cases where kids live with adults that can’t be vaccinated then that is up to them to protect themselves and not ask a large community of children to mask up and social distance, they can stay home and do remote.  

As for vaccinated kids. What was the point of incentivizing a mask free and quarantine free school year if kids were vaccinated if the school board is just going to blindly follow the CDC and not look at the real science, graphs, charts, numbers etc. and not the news or governmental politics (which is what this is about for both sides).

Please, please, PLEASE consider the kids and the rights of parents being their protectors and not the other way around. Plenty of parents can keep kids home and do remote school, and let the kids and parents who choose to live life go to school without restrictions.
