Stop the proposed new contract for the Animal Shelter

The Issue

Do you know that our commissioners had an attorney proceed with a new contract for the Hancock County Animal Shelter to abide by? This new contract will require animals to be euthanized after only 5 days of being at the shelter. (Please note this does NOT mean we believe anyone intends on killing animals. We simply do not want our foundation to ever have to worry a day may come where it was a possibility) This is absurd and not needed. We do not have an over population problem and our shelter does an amazing job at getting the animals homes. If this contract goes through and the shelter board does not abide by this their agreement will be terminated and the animals will still get euthanized. Mind you this is EXACTLY what the code says, even though it's claimed most ignore it. We have to stop this! They vote on June 23rd and we need to be the voices for those animals who cannot speak. This time has come and gone and bigger issues have arised. Please stick with the foundation and please only kind professional requests to help further this cause. We are not using an online petition anymore and instead are kindly asking Hancock County residents to find a paper petition in your area and sign.
