Amazon, Protect THE Amazon

The Issue

For years one of the biggest companies on the planet, bearing its name, Amazon, has made billions and billions of dollars, and much of the money belongs to its founder, Jeff Bezos. According to Quora, Jeff named his company Amazon because:

"The Amazon river has the largest collection of flora and fauna in the world. Amazon Inc will represent the largest collection of retail items on the internet."

Now the largest collection of flora and fauna in the world, "The Earth's Lung," is disappearing at an alarming rate every day. Why? Because of actions taken by powerful humans.

Jeff's mantra for his company is to be "obsessed with the customer," for the company to be "customer-centric." What could be more customer-centric than saving the planet?

There's no doubt that billionaires of the world, like Jeff Bezos, can make the biggest impact at the quickest rate. Land can be bought through The Rainforest Trust, and there are conservation teams whose work gets tougher by the day. The loss of life and the ruination of ecosystems that simply make the Earth the beautiful place that it is should be enough cause for alarm. But the climate impact is untold, and affects us all.

It is time for billionaires, including ones who pay homage to the wonders of the Earth with their branding, to step up and take massive action with the wealth they have created.
