Sending William Shatner, one of the most beloved space travelers of all time into space is a unique moment in history. It is only fitting that the man who brought Captain Kirk to life and positively influenced so many people in the world should travel into space on the Enterprise.

I propose that Jeff Bezos rename the New Shepard rocket that Mr. Shatner will travel on the Enterprise, at least for the single flight. Better yet, paint the name Enterprise on the rocket and send Kirk into space for the very first time, on the ship that always brought him home (not counting The Search for Spock, of course).

This era of commercial space exploration marks a new dawn of humanity's first steps toward the stars. This is a tremendous historic opportunity to be marked with a poetic and inspirational move--the renaming of New Shepard. Jeff Bezos can make a move to do something that will bring millions of people together in joy, which is sorely needed in this time of great division and political polarization. Do it, Jeff! Give the storied name Enterprise to your New Shepard and let Captain Kirk sit on board during this moment in time that will never come again.
