I was looking at amazon.coms policy and on the list of permitted items was live fish crustaceans, bugs and reptiles!! It said that they didn’t sell live mammals, but live fish, crabs, tadpoles, encased butterflies and other live reptiles and crustaceans are allowed.

I couldn’t believe that this was allowed and I wanted to see this for myself so I searched up “live” on amazon. I saw a CRAZY amount of live animals so I decided to read the reviews of a live hermit crab. Almost every review said that their crab had arrived dead or in pieces (yes in pieces. Some had legs ripped off and a missing shell) The live hermit crab was shipped in a tiny container full of shredded paper.

I can't believe I ordered....shame on me...no water included with the crab. He was horribly stressed after arrival, never ate, and died a few days later. Very sad.

THIS IS 1000% ANIMAL CRUELTY!!! Please DO NOT buy this or any other animal online like this! Live animals should NEVER be shipped in the mail this way! What a horrible, cruel way for these crabs to die smothered inside a cup, being tossed around, in extreme temperatures. It’s sickening and so inhumane! If you must have a crab, rescue one from someone giving it away on fb/craigslist. Even the pet stores that sell crabs are getting this from crab mills with very inhumane practices.

THIS IS ANIMAL ABUSE!!!!!

I am hoping to get this petition signed enough so that amazon.com will be banned from selling live animals.
