To 49ers: Show faith by keeping Jarryd Hayne and on the active roster
The Issue
Today on October 31, 2015, the 49ers organization announced that they waived running back Jarryd Hayne who was signed to the team on March 3, 2015.
Jed York, Trent Baalke, please show some faith to the 49er Faithfuls by doing what it takes to keep Jarryd Hayne with the 49ers. It is important to note that the 49ers must keep Hayne on the active roster to not lose him, because he would have to pass waivers to remain with the team on the practice squad. As quoted on Ninersnation.com "Baalke told the Herald they did not feel they could get him through waivers to the practice squad, saying there was too much good film on him." Even Baalke himself made it clear that waiving him will lead to Hayne no longer being a 49er. Baalke has a history of looking for long-term players that can develop into something great. However, it is baffling to see that a player like Hayne, who fits that description perfectly, would be let go. Don't let another team steal what you saw in Jarryd in the first place.
Hayne has not had the most stellar first season so far and while he is still developing his skills and experience in the NFL, he could develop even further with more play time. Not to mention, the 49ers offensive line has not been performing well at all this season, which makes it even harder for running backs to make plays. With the status of the current season, there couldn't be a better time to let Hayne receive some carries as a running back, having real responsibility on his shoulders. Instead, the organization has turned its back on Hayne and won't even let him have the chance to step into the real spotlight, now that Carlos Hyde is out with an injury.
Jarryd Hayne has shown strong signs of developing into an incredibly special player, and has already provided evidence that he can play RIGHT NOW. There are a lot of things that are going wrong this season, but this is the one thing that you, the organization, have control over. Jarryd Hayne represents the hope of the Faithful fans. There is no better underdog to represent the 49ers (who have been the underdog all season) than Jarryd Hayne. If you let Jarryd Hayne go, not only will you be making a huge mistake by losing a special player, but you'll be committing fanbase-suicide. Lifelong Faithfuls will be extremely upset and question the organization even more, resulting in more departues, and the new Australian fans that Jarryd has SINGLE-HANDEDLY brought in will no longer be fans, and they will (rightfully) speak out against the 49ers organization and become anti-fans. This petition represents the 49er Faithful and Jarryd Hayne fans, in hopes that the 49ers organization will do the right thing. Please listen to your fans, respect your fans, and do whatever it takes to keep Jarryd Hayne.
