Stop the Milton Park Parking Over flow Charge
The Issue
As you may or may not be aware Milton Park intends to charge £4 a day for use of their over flow car parks.
As i'm sure you can agree the proposal is ridiculous and will mean that you will be £960 worse off a year if you like me find that you have no choice but to use over flow parking each day due to the lack of parking spaces made available to your business.
Please sign this petition to make Milton Park aware of your objection to this idea in the hopes that they will abolish this ludicrous idea.
For full information on what MEPC is proposing please feel free to read the following which was sent to our director this morning:
As you know, parking allocations are set by planning law and we are therefore limited in the number of spaces we can provide around buildings and the number of allocated spaces your business is entitled to is clearly defined in your lease.
Further to my recent email regarding car parking on Milton Park I would like to update you on some changes. If you are located in a managed building, a similar email will be going to your facilities manager from the Milton Park Property Manager, Ricky Jones to ensure the contents of both communications are received by as many people as possible. Please find attached a copy of this for your reference.
Overflow Car Parks
To date we have been able to provide temporary overflow parking on development sites at 43-59 Jubilee Avenue and 182 Park Drive. Work is expected to commence on these sites in Q4 2016 so we have been looking at how we can continue to provide overflow parking in conjunction with promoting alternative travel.
From 1st July 2016 over 100 additional spaces will be made available at the 182 Park Drive overflow carpark (http://www.mepc.com/pdfs/milton-overflow-carparks.pdf behind the outdoor gym.
In our 2015 customer survey, with 1,500 responses, employees across the park told us they would rather pay for a parking space than travel to work through alternative transport. We are therefore proposing to introduce charges for the overflow spaces to encourage a reduction in the number of single car journeys whilst not overly penalising those who are less able to change their travel patterns. Therefore from 1st September 2016, the spaces in the overflow car parks will be paid for by users.
The cost for parking will be £4 per day. Tickets can be paid for using a mobile phone or onsite machines. Initially we will not be able to offer allocated spaces or season tickets. The car park will be managed by UKPC and an attendant will patrol the areas on a regular basis.
Part of the revenue from the parking areas will be reinvested into alternative travel initiatives and more information on these will be provided at the appropriate time.
Managed Building Car Parks
Since the start of 2016 we have increasingly been asked to issue tickets to errant parkers in managed car parks. This has historically been managed by our on-site security team but due to increased demand, from 1st July 2016 we will be employing UKPC to patrol these areas and issue tickets where necessary. They will also patrol all roadways which have an absolute prohibition on parking unless signed otherwise. Double parking within managed car parks is also not permitted at any time for health and safety reasons. Please ensure that your employees understand your allocation and the enforcement regime.
Travel
A long term change in behavioural patterns is required to reduce car dependency and contribute towards a healthier environment. My team will continue to encourage as many employees as possible to travel more sustainably to help reduce the number of single occupant journeys, not only to Milton Park but on all of our local roads. The shuttle bus is increasingly popular and we continue to encourage uptake of the car share scheme. We have recently installed speed indicators to encourage responsible driving habits on the Park and other initiatives are being considered.
This notification will be fully communicated to everyone through the usual channels and I ask that you also forward this to all of your employees to ensure the message is fully received and understood by all.
Kind regards
