Make bioplastics a permanent alternative for plastic packaging

The Issue

Plastics are non compostable and ruin the Earth. This decreases the life span of multiple species, especially marine life.  We are passionate about pushing this nationwide. The people who can be the most helpful to push this piece of legislation to congress would be our district representative, Mike Quigley, and our state governor, J.B. Pritzker. The reason we picked Mike Quigley is because he is the district representative of the 5th congressional district, which oversees most of the Chicago’s North Side and several western suburbs. He is the person who is supposed to help our voices be heard in congress. He is a part of the House of Representatives meaning that if he believes our policy is beneficial, he can play a major role in sending it to Congress. The reason we selected Governor J.B. Pritzker is because he is the governor of the state with the third largest city in the country. J.B. Pritzker is a progressive politician and he entered Illinois into the U.S. Climate Alliance “which will aim to reduce the state’s greenhouse gas emissions over 26% by 2020” meaning he has already taken action to reduce greenhouse gas and saving the environment, so convincing him to take another step in the right direction should be no problem, as this is a topic he is dedicated to.
