This heart wrenching story begins with false statements of two women, police hungry for blood, and a man sitting at home with his family unaware that his entire life would be twisted and turned upside down and inside out. Imagine sitting at home and having the police surround your house, placed in handcuffs in front of your wife and 3 daughters and being told that you're going to jail but you don't know why. Well that is what happened to Joe Riley after two women made false statements about him being a part of a bar fight that took place at Icabod's In Spokane Valley, Wa even though there were witnesses that stated he had been home and there were no marks on his hands or body, and he had no connections to his so called victim. The Spokane County Sheriffs arrested Joe before even starting an investigation into what actually happened and who was involved. The Sheriffs Department has not only failed Joe and his family in this situation, a man lost his life that night and his family has not been able to get closure and grieve because they spent so much time accusing the wrong man. Our hearts go out to Daniel Jarman and his family and we pray that justice is served.

While sitting in jail Joe said "Please help me. Please help me find who did this because I didn't and I want to go home." The detective responded with "if you didn't do this, I'll make sure you get to go home." But apparently that is where the detective stopped helping Joe. When he was finally about to come home he not only had to deal with his own mental state but he also had to be there for his family and of course worry about the financial burden of the whole ordeal.

Joe and his family have been living a nightmare since this happened. He has been called names and his business name drug through the mud, his wife has had to deal with people saying horrible things about the man she loves so dearly, his children have had to look at the man that brings such happiness and love into their world be so sad and broken. The stories that those two woman told after stating that they had no idea who the person was that assaulted Daniel Jarman nearly shattered Joe, his family, and his way of life.

We are asking for help and support from the community to hold Detective Melville and the Prosecuting Attorney responsible for making a false arrest and malicious prosecution, we would like the two witnesses be charged with making false statements and committing perjury, and finally the County to repay not only what Joe and his family had to pay for bail and attorney fees but also try to help compensate them for their pain and suffering through such a nightmare.
