Ban Trophy Hunting in Washington

The Issue

A baby elephant sniffed the ground curiously. The hunter waited behind the bushes, waiting. When the elephants was within shooting range, there was the click of the gun. What if I told you this happens often? What if I told you this was called trophy hunting? Because everything that I'm saying is true.

What is Trophy Hunting? Trophy hunting is where an animal is killed for – food? – no, for the purpose of a part of their body to be hung up on the wall as a trophy.

Why is Trophy Hunting Bad? When an animal is killed during a trophy, they're dead and gone forever, and sometimes killed in inhumane ways. (For example, bow and arrows ensure a painful death). There is no undoing a click of a gun. In addition, their death can create trauma for their entire family, especially if the animal is social type. But whether social or not, if the animal had pups, the pups will most likely die without them there to defend and hunt for them until they're ready to fend for themselves.

Does Trophy Hunting Support Conservation? Some say that the money for hunting licenses can go to support wildlife conservation, meaning that trophy hunting animals does support conservation. However, trophy hunting does help endanger animals, meaning that it would imbalance the food chain. In addition, wildlife watchers also support conservation when they pay watch the wildlife. When the wildlife gets killed, less wildlife watchers come, for there is less animals to see.

Sign this petition if you want to save lions, elephants, wolves, leopards, lions, and other animals. They will thank you, and the earth will, too.

And while you sign this petition, tell me where you heard about this petition; change.org, social media, etc. This can help me know where most of the petition signers are coming from, which means I know the best way to share the petition.

But I'm not the only one who has the ability to share - you can share, too. Posting on social media and chipping in money so that change.org can give it more views are some of the few ways you can share.

So, sign and share for the animals! Because we can change the lives of these animals together.
