Dear Senators, Representatives, and Governor of Massachusetts 

We, the undersigned petitioners, hereby plead with you and request that you immediately pass the bills in the House No. 3358* and Senate No. 826* An Act to Reduce Mass Incarceration. Legislative bills that would eliminate Life Without Parole sentences for all convicted First Degree Murderers in Massachusetts, retroactively and future. 

As reasons for our request, please understand the undue hardship and burdens our families, friends, and loved-ones have faced over the years due to mass incarceration of a loved one.

Prisons were meant for reform, although for many they’ve developed into a living tombstone. We as a State & Nation should encourage and promote rehabilitation also reunification of families as well as communities. Because every person makes mistakes at some point in their lives, we as a society need to recognize this and give people a second chance at life if and when they have shown they have been rehabilitated.

Please allow those placed in prison for life without the possibility of parole the chance of a parole hearing in twenty-five (25) years and every five (5) thereafter (per current parole standards*)?
