Do not play at the concert in Burma Myanmar on 16th December
There is a state supported genocide of the Rohingya ethnicity taking place right now in the Arakan state of Burma, and yet Jason Mraz is going to play a concert there this weekend http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/earshot/jason-mraz-curates-special-set-399637
10,000 buildings have been burnt to the ground. Over 100,000 people have been displaced and are now living in camps, with very little medical assistance and food allowed in, and the Rohingya are not allowed to leave. The Burmese government calls them refugee camps, the Rohingya however refer to them as concentration camps. Outside the camps thousands more people are literally starving to death in their homes, boats and makeshift shelters, due to blockades. They are denied entry to hospitals.
The Rohingya have lived in the Arakan state for centuries yet have been denied their citizenship and are clear victims of ethnic cleansing and genocide.
Hundreds of Rohingya have been arrested and tortured, many to death. A recent report stated that 2900 babies and toddlers are now so malnourished that even with urgent treatment they may die, and 14,000 children are at risk http://globalpublicsquare.blogs.cnn.com/2012/12/07/myanmar-can-keep-rohingya-from-starving-but-will-it/ .
There is plenty of evidence to suggest this is a state supported genocide, with the NaSaKa, the police and the military all participating in serious crimes. Currently the government is not providing free access to the UNOCHA and the World Food Program to help the Rohingya people as they need, but only very limited access.
It is INSANE that anyone go to play a concert in a country ruled by a government that is committing GENOCIDE, whilst the government pretend they are concerned about human rights and human trafficking.
