Why this petition matters

Started by Sarah Konkel

I am a salon owner in Calgary, Alberta. I am extremely concerned about our industry being included in phase one of Alberta’s economic reopening. We are a non-essential service, and it is physically impossible for us to distance ourselves from our guests. There is a major concern surrounding access to N95 masks, proper PPE and sanitization products to keeps ourselves and guests safe, as well as the cost associated with procurement of said equipment. This petition is being started to address these concerns as this is a common sentiment from across the cosmetology industry with letter writing campaigns being sent to local and provincial representatives. Responses to inquiries have receive automated general responses, and we fear that our voices are being lost in the shuffle. If you’re currently working in the industry as an apprentice, licensed hairstylist, barber, or salon owner and are concerned with being included in phase one of Alberta’s economic reopening, please add your support below. Thank you.
