It is imperative that we keep information about this bill circulating and that we continue to express our outrage about its passing and those who voted for it.  The racism implicit in the creation and passing of the document proves that the UCP are afraid of the power BIPOC and their allies have through protest.  It is no coincidence that the bill was created in the midst of the Wet’suwet’en railway and pipeline protests (First Reading Feb. 25, Second Readings Feb. 25, Mar. 2), or that it was brought back to the table shortly after George Floyd’s murder (Second Reading May 27, Third Reading May 28).  The UCP are concerned only with their ability to make money, and therefore they are catering to big corporations who do not want protestors getting in their way.  This bill gives police more power than before and makes protesting and existing as activists or union workers even more dangerous, especially for BIPOC who are already being targeted by police.
