Police brutality in the US is a major and growing issue. The disproportionate targeting of POC and the excessive force used against them is reprehensable and inexcusable. Furthermore, the fact that the officers who murder, humiliate, and brutalize these people often never face trial, or when taken to trial do not recieve charges is a further insult and slap in the face to the communities they terrorize. We must take a stand! We need to tell the police, and our government that this sweeping under the rug of the abuse of marginalized communities will not stand! This is a chance to take action, Samantha Alonso Luna is being charged with, resisting arrest, battery on a police officer, providing false identification to a police officer and public intoxication when she is clearly acting in self defense and there is no evidence of her being intoxicated. The police unlawfully arrested her and pilled on charges to cover up the fact that they were clearly in the wrong. In the video you can clearly see the officer attempt to drag her out of the car by both her arm and hair, and when Samantha tries to pull the officer off the officer hits her and calls a second officer. This is extremely excessive force. This petition calls for Janelle Jackson the officer asaulting Ms.Luna in the video to be held accountable and fired without severance. This petition also requests that her partner either resign, or be propperly reprimanded and suspended without pay while an investigation occurs. The officer who threatened to pepper spray Samantha should also be suspended without pay and either reassigned, demoted or, fired. Please sign this to show your solidarity AGAINST police brutality and make a statement that minorities are not punching bags and will not be treated as such!
