In this global pandemic, Japan have started whaling again. They signed an agreement saying they would stop, but because of the COVID-19 outbreak their terrible deeds have not been put on the news. Therefore most of the general public do not know about this.

Whaling is cruel and inhumane, currently there are only around 15,000 whales left. 

At first people started hunting whales for survival, but once they realised they could make good money from it, there motivation changed. 

Traditional whalers use hand-held harpoons to ensnare whales, and then kill them with high-powered rifles. They have also used bombs and black powder.

After whalers kill the whales, using excruciating pain, the whales can still be alive from 10 minutes to hours after. Imagine if this was you.

Whales usually get hunted or killed for there meat or blubber. However we know longer rely on there recourses.

As well as this, whales are pregnant for a LOT LONGER than humans, this means it takes so much longer for a whale to be born, which makes them even more likely to become extinct.

Most countries signed an agreement to stop whaling, but as we know, Japan have started again.
