The City Council members for the City of Winston-Salem have a proposal before them to change the name of the Dixie Classic Fair to something other than Dixie.  The name has been in place since 1952 and is one of the top 50 fairs nationwide.  It would be a detriment to the historied event to rename it based soley on a knee jerk reaction to sensationalized media coverage.  The fair represents the southern way of life at its best, where everyone is always welcome.  You change the name, you change that unnecessarily.  Please do not entertain any further consideration for doing so.
