A recent Huffington Post article recently brought to light the response of James Madison University's judicial system to a sexual assault on one of their students. The incident involved 3 fraternity members making a video of a sexual assault on a fellow student and sharing the video.

Although it was determined these men shared the video and were found guilty of sexual assault and harassment, they were banned from the university only after they graduate. One of the students will be able to return to the university for his senior year.

The article can be seen here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/06/18/james-madison-university-sexual-assault_n_5509163.html

As an alumnus of this university, I am enraged at how this situation is being handled and am embarrassed to call myself a Duke today.

The strongest punishment for sexual assault in the student handbook is currently suspension. This should be changed to reflect the serious nature of sexual assault and those who commit this injustice should be punished harshly.

The recent response of JMU to this situation is a disgrace and discourages those who have been sexually assaulted from coming forward.

I urge you to join me in compelling JMU to change their stance on sexual assault by signing this petition.
