Statue of Mark Messier to be erected at MSG/NYC

We, the Blueshirt Faithful, hereby kindly request that the Madison Square Garden Corporation and Owner James L. Dolan give thorough consideration to the construction of a commemorative statue of former Rangers Captain, Mark Messier on the premises of Madison Square Garden at 1 Pennsylvania Plaza. The fans of the great City of New York believe that no one is more deserving of this honor - out of all of MSG's professional sports franchises - than the estimable Captain of the 1994 Stanley Cup New York Rangers, Mark "The Captain" Messier.

We collectively believe that this is a long overdue gesture. To have a monument dedicated to Mr. Messier in the vicinity of MSG would serve as a standing reminder to fans, coaches, players and executives alike not only of the magic that he brought our city, but more poignantly of the dedication to exceptionally high standards of excellent performance and sportsmanship, untold amounts of hard work he committed himself to as a player and his continued, uncommon devotion to the sport of hockey in and around the City of New York.

We believe that Mark's living legacy ought best to be manifested on the grounds of the building where he performed his most miraculous feat as a professional athlete and further believe that such a statue should be erected while Mr. Messier is with us to enjoy it.

Please do consider our request seriously. We love Mark and we love our team with a passion rare amongst pro sports fans. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. We look forward to an appropriate response in as timely a manner as is feasible.

With respect and a hearty "LET'S GO RANGERS!!!"

-The Fans
