It is widely known that education, especially for children, is a powerful weapon against racism. Everything we learn now, implicitly or explicitly, will have a huge impact on us and future generations. The earlier we teach students to practice antiracism, the more impactful we can be. By creating lessons that work to mitigate racial biases, we can create a student body that is more accepting of all people.

Taylor High School has included Character Strong as a bi-weekly lesson for the past two years. While it champions several good causes like kindness to peers, it does not address microaggressions nor teaches lessons teaching antiracist behaviors. We want to create lessons to go alongside Character Strong to help create a more inclusive environment for BIPOC.
