Bridge Jamba Juice Employee Income Inequality Gap

The Issue

I have been a loyal and hardworking employee of Jamba Juice for the past 3 years, as of January 1st 2014 Jamba Juice has decided it would be best to eliminate my position as a Shift Manager, along with all Shift Manager positions in every store. I am now only allowed to work 30 hours a week, I am no longer eligible to receive health benefits, I have been basically demoted to a Team Member (what I was originally hired as 3 years ago). I am currently being paid $11 per hour excluding tips, I don't believe that working 30 hours a week at that price could provide me, or other independent adults with a full time source of income, as I was hired as a full time employee. Mathematically at best case scenario I am well below the poverty line established by the United States government in 2012, before taxes.

I frequently charge customers $6.00 for a single drink that in many cases cost as little as $1 in cost of goods to produce. These prices have been increasing dramatically the past few years, neither myself nor my co-workers have seen anywhere close to an increase in salary, if any. This is a clear indication of corporate greed that is flying under the radar due to the fact that Jamba Juice is looked upon as a youthful, liberal, and healthy corporation (unlike McDonald's).

I decided to start this online petition to let Jamba Juice know, without fear of retaliation, that I cannot and will not stand for this type of income inequality. It is counter productive in terms of employee morale, productivity, and loyalty. Please sign this petition to let Jamba Juice know that their employees are unhappy with the way they are being treated, we are offered little to no incentives, not enough wages, and our health care benefits are being eliminated.

We respectfully and privately request a bridge in the gap of income inequality and to receive our health benefits back.

I sincerely hope that Chairman James D. White, Founder of Jamba Juice, Director Kirk Perron, and Chief Financial & Administrative Officer Karen L. Luey listen to their hardworking and loyal employees and decide to do the right thing and join the growing list of companies that are in favor of bridging the gap of income and treating their employees fairly.

Sincerely, A former Shift Manager
